Mottisfont

I visited Mottisfont many moons ago, I think it was to celebrate my 27th birthday? Either way I look younger and thinner in the photos!

Mottisfont is possibly one of my favourite National Trust venues. It has a walled garden FILLED with roses (we were there for rose festival week which we didn't know at the time). This means it was also filled with a lot of ahem, people from an older generation.

I'm used to the NT venues in Kent which aren't that big so any time I am over towards this side of the world I am always amazed at the scale of their properties! Sadly this means that coach load of tourists can all come at once so I guess you have to time it right or just accept that it is going to be busy.

I loathe crowds of people I am such a grumpy old woman! You wont catch me at festivals.

Well, maybe a flower festival.

The walled garden here was a rose scented paradise.

Can you tell that these photos were taken before I had lightroom and used presets?!

For an old iPhone camera they aren't that bad.

Its a baby faced Lilly! How I took collagen for granted.

From memory, once you had wondered through the walled rose garden you could then explore the grounds and the 18th century house.

They have acres of land so you can enjoy Hampshire's glorious countryside scenes.

I wonder if I will go back here one day? Generally I don't like visiting the same place twice (other than locally) as I always feel like there are new places to discover?

Maybe when I'm old and retired I will have narrowed down my list and will only visit my faves.

But sometimes I think, because I have aged before my time now, when I reach retirement will I turn in a gangsta granny and want to party in Ibiza and live it up at the festivals?

Probably not, I'll be sitting under a blanket somewhere hoping someone will bring me a G&T.
