Firle Place

I sort of discovered Firle Place by accident. But I'm very glad that I did! Its a sprawling country estate in the South Downs that was recently used as the setting for the film 'Emma'.

I found out after our visit that I wasn't allowed to take photos in the house but I genuinely didn't see any signs telling us not to so I hope they don't read this and get mad at me.

I think mainly it is used as a wedding venue but when we visited they were having an open day so we thought we would take a look around...

It was very grand with a strong Italian villa feel.

I really like staircases, don't ask me why.

The house is currently owned by the Gage family. I couldn't imagine living somewhere so fancy, plus having all those acres of land!

It would be bloody fantastic though (not for the window cleaner).

The family have owned the property for around 500 years. That's some inheritance right there!

There was an incredible amount of art and fabulous antique furniture.

I believe there is a herb garden and a walled garden but we weren't allowed to see this.

Perhaps we need someone to get married here so we can see all the best bits!

I'm guessing its going to cost a few Thousand...
