Life is Rosie

Everybody, meet Rosie.

She came into my life last week and I absolutely adore her! She is an F1 cockapoo and is now 10 weeks old. She likes to attack my slippers, sleep and play with her toys. Thankfully the pee pad training is going well with only a few accidents but we are not quite sleeping through the night, being in the crate means lots of barking and whining. But despite having this little rascal wake me up and bite my toes, I wouldn't change any of it.

Let me start at the beginning, I had wanted a dog for so long but had never bought one as it was never the right time, in my previous relationship we didn't agree on what breed and we were renovating a house and both working full time so it wasn't going to be fair on the dog if we did get one. Then after I separated I moved into a house share where they already owned a dog so I wouldn't have been allowed one.

Fast forward to now, Mr Poachie and I are renting our own home and the landlord gave us permission to have a pet, we are both working from home full time so it was the best time to start looking  for a breeder.

I actually found that quite challenging as some breeders were charging £3000 which was far more than what we wanted to pay and when I looked on the freeads or Petsforhomes a lot of breeders didn't respond to messages so I didn't think it would happen for a while. I was also looking at rescue dogs but I couldn't find the breed I wanted ( I have always wanted a blonde cockapoo/maltipoo/cavapoo).

So the search continued and whilst this happened our holiday to Morocco got cancelled due to the rising covid cases in the UK. This was a bummer but we will re book for a later date. But then I received a message from a girl who had two female blonde cockapoo's left in their litter. We arranged to see the puppy on the Monday and obviously I fell in love with her straightaway so we paid the deposit and picked her up the next day!

It wasn't hard for me to choose between the two pups, Rosie was blonder and less curly, basically exactly what I wanted. We went to Pets at home to buy all of her bedding and crate, lead, collar etc and life has been bonkers ever since!

For the first two days when she was home Mr Poachie was away so I was home all day alone with her not sure what I was doing, sadly she was sick on her first day so I was quite worried all day but I think she ate a dead beetle from sniffing about in the garden. She's fine now.

She makes me SO happy! I love watching her play and trot about. I feel awful when I put her in her crate at night, but everyone I know has said life is better for everyone when your dog is crate trained. On the second night I *slept* downstairs with her which was one of my worst night's sleep! Being an insomniac for years I was used to broken sleep but the barking and the howling was too much.

Now we just wait for her to get really tired and then pop her in, close the door and that's it. She doesn't like it but barks and whines less and less. The best is when you open her crate in the morning, she is so excited and pleased to see you, I can forgive any noise and toe biting!

With regards to any holidays that we had planned, so far they have all be rescheduled, I would rather have Rosie than go away anyway. We were booked to visit Chatsworth house in the Peak District but she is too young to be in the car for 5 hours.

Sleepy girl.

I tried to get her to sit amongst the pumpkins but she just wanted to chew them.

She sleeps in some odd positions that don't look very comfy!

Her first shower which she wasn't keen on, I don't think it was the water that bothered her she just didn't seem to like being in the tub.

My little angel. I am obsessed with her so I am sure she will feature a lot on future posts and in true basic bitch style I have set her up her own insta account which is @rosie_bearthecockapoo if you want to follow along!
