Beanstalk Tea Garden

I don't care for afternoon tea; I don't like scones or jam, I prefer full size sandwiches and a raisin free existence.

I do however very much enjoy tea and cake in a gorgeous countryside setting.

This is what the Beanstalk Tea Garden has created.

Its very popular with walkers, and it is quite hard to find when driving and looking at google maps.

But once you do find it, its then difficult to leave.

I think I found it on Trip advisor when looking for places to eat in Lewes and despite it not being in Lewes, it was very highly rated.

We tied it in with our visit to Firle Place

When you park up you just see a pretty little cottage covered in flowers but when you walk round the back there is an abundance of wrought iron table and chairs, parasols and a marquee.

I think they charge a set amount for lunch but there was a choice of salads, fish, meat and hot food.

We ordered some tea and iced coffees and a big slab of cake.

We sat outside in the garden and were soon joined by a peacock!

I think he was hoping for snacks.

I suppose if you have walked here you can reward yourself with a calorific cake but we were just being greedy.

The lunch was great, really filling and fresh.

There was this little house nearby with soooooo many gnomes and garden ornaments.

It was a little creepy!

Have you discovered any great tearooms near you?
