Polesden Lacey

Last year Mr Poachie took me to Polesden Lacey for a little wander through the gardens. Little did we know the gardens there are extensive and there was jazz on the lawn so it ended up being a super fun afternoon!

I swear once you leave Kent the National Trust venues double in size, there must be something in the water!

We had a lovely leisurely stroll looking at all of the different flower names. They would make excellent character names for a book. I would love to write a novel, I want to go to a house in Italy and drink wine and write although I should think it would end up being a load of nonsense, much like my blog!

(Just so we are clear, I am always sober when I write!!)

Polesden Lacey was where the Queen Mother visited on her honeymoon, Mrs Greville, the owner was no stranger to entertaining royals and celebs of her time.

How fabulous!

We didnt go inside, I can't remember why I think maybe we were out of time and the gardens took up most of our visit. Generally I am not as bothered by visiting the houses, I know, shame on me, but I prefer taking photos of the exterior.

It reminded me a lot of Mottisfont as they had a large beautiful rose garden. The scent was just delicious.

I don't know how many National Trust venues there are in the UK but wouldn't it be wonderful to get to visit them all? If I could give up work/retire early I think that is how I would spend my time.

I have definitely noticed a big increase in the NT following over the years, I think I have been a member for around 4-5 years and it has become very busy which is awesome but at the same time it can be a pain when you visit because it is just sooooo busy? Am I just being a moaning murtle?

Anyway, it was a pleasure to visit and if you live nearby or want somewhere to visit on a nice sunny day, this is definitely one to go and see.
