Cornwall Part one - St Michael's Mount, Mousehole and Helford

I had high expectations from Cornwall, I have lusted over everyone else's summer holiday photo's from the last however many years and this year, it was my turn to make people green with envy!

So lets do it, welcome to our Cornish adventure...

We kick started our trip with a visit to St Michael's Mount which I now know, is part of the National Trust famalam. We didn't think to book tickets but could luckily do it online so after a quick vino stop in the glorious September sunshine we made our way over.

We could only get access to the gardens and terrace but not to the actual castle which is fine by me as I'm not a history buff and gardens are much more my thing but it was a very impressive building, Mr Poachie was getting Bruce Wayne vibes from the towering estate.

I think it would be fun to stay here overnight during a storm as when the tide is in this becomes your own island. You can't stay here FYI, this is just what goes on in my imagination.

The plants here were enormous. We saw so many succulents that we have at home and it was as if they had been given steroids! We thought they were like the Arnie of succulents.

After a lovely walk around the gardens we headed back to the mainland and got in the car to make our way to Mousehole.

Mousehole (pronounced Mowzel) was somewhere I had wanted to visit for such a long time and initially I had wanted to stay here. After visiting I am glad that we didn't, I don't know if we didn't explore enough but it was very small as I wasn't really blown away by it?

It didn't help that the tide was out so it didn't look as picturesque. I think maybe we were both hangry and just wanted to find somewhere to eat! We didn't fancy the look of anywhere here so we hopped back in to the car and headed to Helford.

Now this was one of my favourite places from our trip. We had dinner by the river and it was just a really relaxing atmosphere as we soaked up the evening sunshine. It didn't feel touristy and it wasn't packed crowds of people or with long queues!

Lots of people were just chilling, walking around barefoot, swimming with their kids. I felt like I could have been abroad. We ordered supper of open lobster rolls and chips and I was in my happy place.

When we travel anywhere, food is the most important part of the trip (along with taking photos). I think life is too short to eat bad, crappy meals.

So after a busy day and clocking up 15000 steps we headed home for tea and a lindt ball and early to bed for another day!
