Polperro

Polperro to me was quintessential Cornwall.

It felt like a very quaint fisherman's village, packed with charm. As pretty as a picture, we spent a lovely afternoon here wandering around and enjoying the sunshine.

Despite it's size, I think we counted 3 or 4 pubs so it is my kind of place!

You have to park up away from the town and then its about a ten minute walk down to the harbour, or if like me you want to stop and swoon at all of the cute houses, it will take longer.

I think in a past life I was a cat as instinctively I want to wander off away from the main streets and look to see where all the little alleyways lead to. Most of the time it was just to someone's cottage but here we found a steep walk to the top of the cliffs which gave the most amazing views of the harbour and the sea.

It was a National Trust Chapel Cliff walk which if we had known about before we might have walked the full length but instead we scaled down the cliff and back to the harbour. We also discovered some amazing rock pools which people were swimming in, I should imagine its a local hotspot. We didn't have our swimmers with us but it would have been an awesome place for an early evening dip.

Thankfully Polperro was really quiet when we were there, it makes such a difference to the feel of the place I think when you don't have to queue or worry about getting trampled.

I remember once when I was in Rome I was walking down the main street, like the equivalent of Oxford Street in London, and I turned left and my foot got ran over my someone's pram which left a lovely bruise. It was insane how busy it was! I don't think I have been anywhere else that bustling.

But we didn't face those issue in Polperro, it was a sleepy village. You wouldn't need much longer than a few hours I think, we had lunch and a glass of wine and then left to visit Looe.

We only visited Looe as Mr Poachie used to go there when he was a kid on family holidays. There wasn't really a lot to see or do and it wasn't the nicest placed by far! But it made him happy feeling all nostalgic and we had a giggle wandering around before heading home.
