Weekend round up

I have had such a nice weekend and despite feeling a little jaded today thanks to too much prosecco last night, it’s just been so nice to stay at home and feel really relaxed.

Despite spending more time at home more than ever due to lockdown, I still really appreciate the weekends and not being chained to my laptop. I have always valued my own time and live for the weekends! When Mr Poachie and I first started dating I used to fill our weekends with so many activities and places to eat/visit which I’m grateful that we did as this year couldn’t be more different!

So Friday evening Mr Poachie had a poker night so I thought I would bake an Apple cake in preparation for our dinner guests on Saturday and then I took a large glass of red wine upstairs and had a bubble bath, lit the candles, put on some relation music and had a bit of pamper time. It felt sooooo good to have a soak in the tub. I couldn’t live without one!

Afterwards I watched two episodes of the last season of Keeping up with the Kardashians and then had an early night!

The next morning we got up, did the crossword over breakfast and went to Wakehurst Place for a stroll. Neither of us were particularly chipper as we both slept really badly! I suffer terribly with insomnia and I have got into the habit of waking up at 4am and struggling to get back to sleep. On this occasion I finally fell back asleep at 7am and then had a nightmare so I was trying to wake myself up and just felt so groggy all day.

But it was nice to be up and out and making most of the day.
The queues for refreshments at Wakehurst were so long so we gave up and headed back home but popped into Plaw Hatch farm for a campachoochoo. It’s really cute there, like a hippie commune which serves great coffee and vegan snacks.

I was hoping to buy some pumpkins as last year they had an enormous truck load of them but I think we are too early for it right now. The pumpkins I bought from them last year are still with me today!

We had some friends round for sups in the evening so I made a sausage and apple tray bake which felt so seasonal and delicious, we had mashed potatoes, peas and pancetta and roasted carrots. Seriously good comfort food. Then I served the apple cake and custard for pudding. We drank too much and played games and it was such a fun evening!

Today had consisted of a lot of sofa surfing but I did manage to bake a carrot cake and pack my bags as we are off to the Cotswolds this week for a little mini break which I am so excited for, pictures and posts to follow!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend, I can’t wait to get into bed... zzzzz
