Port Isaac, Polzeath and Padstow

By this point, I don't know what day we are into on the trip, We have clocked up a good daily step count but truth be told I hadn't eaten any fudge, pasties or ice cream.

What a pathetic tourist I am!

Port Isaac was our first visit on this grey morning, we parked up and walked down the windy streets with the masses until we reached the harbour. This was where I witnessed a seagull stealthily swoop down on some poor unsuspecting lady just enjoying her ice cream and it nabbed it!

I had heard that the seagulls here were absolute menaces but thankfully we didn't suffer from any food loss on our trip.

I really liked Port Isaac, despite it being very busy. I think because the weather was a bit grey it made it feel like you were in an oldy-worldy time and you should be holed up in a dark pub surrounded by bearded men and roaring fires.

A bit like when the rugby world cup is on.

We had wanted to get a campachoochoo from somewhere but all of the coffee shops were packed so we walked back up the hill and headed to Polzeath where I had heard that they sold amazing tacos on the beach.

Saw some door porn on the way back up.

Now I was praying that by the time we arrived at Polzeath the weather might have cheered up but alas it did not. But still after an adventure I kicked off my vans and we headed across the windy bay to the other side of the beach in search of food.

By this point we are cold and hungry and when we arrived at the empty beach with only one taco shack and no where to sit, they had also run out of food. Most things had sold out so all we could order was the option of a lamb taco or two veggie tacos. I started to feel really bad at this point as it was my idea to do this, despite it being really cold I thought it would be an adventure but the real sore point was that neither of us were blown away by the food!

So, we plodded back to the car and headed to Padstow with the promise of a dinner at Rick Stein's restaurant.

We had a lot of time to kill as we had hoped to spend longer at the beach but at that point the weather wasn't on our side so we wandered around, got Mr Poachie a cream tea and had a mooch in the shops.

Thankfully the sun made an appearance and it made the afternoon much more enjoyable!

Padstow was cute, once you escaped the main part of the shops we found some lovely quiet streets.

Then we kicked back with a drink by the harbour before we got changed (in the car!) before dinner.

Mr Poachie bought this cute box of fudge.

Now, I'm not a fine dining kinda gal, but we both really wanted to visit Rick Stein's restaurant and it didn't disappoint.

Being a date, I opted to start with a glass of the Camel Valley pinot noir sparkling which was delicious!

We both chose scallops to start. Like little pillows of loveliness.

For my main I had crab linguine which was lovely.

The service was fantastic and we were both really happy with our food.

So what started off as a bit of an iffy day, Padstow saved the day!!
