St. Ives

If St.Ives was a star sign, it would be a Gemini.

But instead of the twins being identical in every way, you have one sister who is sweet, charming and idyllic whilst the other is loud, brash and a little bit tacky!

I thought St. Ives was one town with one beach so Mr Poachie and I had some confusion about what we were doing when we got there; I thought we would wander around the town and then spend the afternoon on the beach eating crab sandwiches. Little did I know that there were numerous beaches, the town was quite large and we couldn't find crab sandwiches for love nor money!

We parked up at Porthmeor and walked into the main area, the streets were really sweet and like something out of a postcard but as we got nearer to the main streets it was quite different far busier and a bit more naff? Much more aimed at tourists which is not my vibe.

I like to try and live like a local on holiday, I want to eat where they eat and swim in the sea off the beaches that only they know about.

I was also finding the photography side of things really challenging as I am a perfectionist when it comes to this and I hate having people in my photos! But they are everywhere!

Enough moaning. We carried on wandering and it felt a little like Positano or Greece. It felt like that a lot over the week I suppose most coastal towns will have the same feel?

I know this looks like I am holding a little poop wrapped up but it was a pastry covered Nutella roll.

I have definitely lost my sweet tooth as I have got older but Nutella is my favourite so we had to buy some of these to try.

Cute little art galleries. We didn't visit many shops etc due to the covid, there was no where we wanted to browse enough for us to want to queue to get inside.

This is how I imagined all of Cornwall to be - bunting and cute buildings.

I didn't notice that the road said 'LOVE', how very LA!

My camera roll is filled with photos of boats! My insta over the next month is going to be verrrry nautical.

Again the tide was out but it didn't stop me from wading in so I could get close ups of the boats.

This felt like Seven Dials/Neals Yard in Covent garden.

After a lot of wandering we found Porthgwidden beach and grabbed some lunch in the sun. Sadly the crab rolls had sold out but the pesto and mozzarella bagel was awesome, so was the cold rose!!

I really wished we had spent more time on this beach, the sun was hot and the sea looked calm but we had tickets to the Minack Theatre so we had to make our merry way to the other side of Cornwall for some outdoor theatre!

I cannot resist a cute door!

This was taken at the Minack Theatre which is a unique place perched on the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic. How gorgeous is it?! The weather gods were on our side and it was such a fun show that we saw. Mr Poachie is a raving thespian so I think he was sad not to be with his people on the stage!!

After the show, we headed to The Pig at Harlyn Bay which you can read here.
