A girly day out to Rye

Last Friday I took the day off and went to Rye with my friend and her adorable little girl.

We had started the day on Winchelsea beach but after the two of them getting COVERED in sand (babies + beach dangerous combination) and also the winds being incredibly strong we decided to head to Rye for lunch.

I have previously written about Rye here and I am sure this won't be my last post on it!

Located in Kent near the Romney Marsh, Rye is famous for Mermaid street and it's cobbled streets, pretty doorways and it is popular for weddings.

A lot of people might stop on the way through to Camber Sands and as you drive past Rye you might not realise what there is to offer as it is a very small place.

There are plenty of car parks, we paid £2  for the whole day which is really reasonable, it's coins only thought so make sure you have some change on you.

As you walk through the streets there are lovely antique shops, coffee shops, bars and restaurants. I think it would be nicer if they didn't allow cars as it seems to small for it.

We headed to the church first to stop and have our lunch in the courtyard. There are plenty of things to stop and photograph here! I wonder if it annoys the residents, always having their houses photographed.

If you are heading here with a pram, the pavements are narrow, the streets are cobbled and generally it is quite busy so I don't know if it is helpful to know this in advance?

Rye isn't very big at all, I know that a lot of people like to come here on a mini break and I am sure there is enough to do here for 24 hours but I think you wouldn't need longer than an afternoon here if you were only planning on mooching round the shops.

You can always visit the castle! The sea once used to come all the way in to Rye but now it is marsh land and the coast is around 10 min drive away.

Currently the George hotel (the main hotel in Rye) is closed as it was damaged in a fire not so long ago but there are still plenty of other great bars/restaurants to visit.

We managed to nab some seats in the sunshine for a cheeky glass of wine whilst the bubba napped and it was so hot! We are having such a great September I love this time of year.

It was such a nice day I am glad I took the time off.

I hope you all had a super weekend.
