Pretty Little Rye

If you live in Kent or Sussex, you have probably visited Rye. With its quaint cobbled lanes and the famous Mermaid street, I think its the perfect place for a cutesy afternoon out.

As Rye is about an hours drive from where I live, I have visited numerous times. These photos are from an accumulation of trips but I have put together my favourite places to visit and eat.

Once we have parked up I always head straight to the Fig Café for a campa-choochoo which is at the end of the high street; their coffee is delicious.

And the décor is kinda cool.

After my caffeine fix I like to head out for a wander. Despite how many times I have been to Rye I always take pictures of the same doors; they are so quirky and I like checking out all of the knockers...

Prepare yourself for some door porn..

This is 'The house with the seat'.

I'm sure the residents here must be sick of people photographing their houses. I think I would put something rude in the window or just moon the tourists.

I have eaten at the Mermaid Inn, which is very oldy worldy and the food is fine, but its not my favourite place to eat in Rye.

Snapping photos of doorways is thirsty work so a trip to Cobbles Tea Room is a must; if you can find a seat. They do have more tables inside and in their courtyard but it is generally pretty busy.

National Trust members will know that Lamb House is also in Rye. I'm going to do a separate post about that another time.

Now, after all this excitement, I have generally worked up an appetite and my favourite place to have lunch is the Globe Inn on The Marsh. It's such a fun place to visit and I love their food. You will need to drive there as it is on the way out of Rye.

They have a strong menu, delicious vino's, the décor is slightly bonkers and they have a nice beer garden.

The Globe Inn is one of five restaurants in The Ramblins collection and I also really enjoyed my visit to The Woolpack Inn at Warehorne, which was also superb!

Rye has so much to offer; a Kino cinema, great places to eat and drink, history, door porn and some quirky vintage and antiques shops.

Have you been? If not, you should go!
