Bluebell Railway

All aboard the romance express!

This was one of my most favourite ever dates that Mr Poachie took me on.

The Bluebell Railway goes from Sheffield Park to East Grinstead stopping at Kingscote and Horsted Keynes.

Before lockdown, I was really looking forward to doing the Bluebell Railway walk when the bluebells were out so I could take photos of the trains coming along the line but that will have to be done next year now.

Anyway, back to the train journey. I simply adore the old fashioned trains.

It makes me feel like I am in an episode of Miss Marple.

We kick started the date with breakfast at the adorable Duddleswell tea rooms which I think is harder to get a table at than Nobu.

Then we drove to Sheffield Park train station to start our journey.

The train pulls through the glorious countryside and the noise and the smell of the train is so cool!

Annoyingly I don't feel I got a really good shot of the train, I have seen some great photos online and I am desperate to take my own.

I think most people get off at East Grinstead and make a day of it but we were pushed for time so we just got off at the end of the line and got the train back.

I could have done this all day. One day I would love to take a train holiday like the Palace on Wheels in India.

I'm also planning a trip to Sri Lanka and they have the famous train journey to Ella which I would like to do.

I just think they are marvellous pieces of machinery!

The reason we were pushed for time was because we were going wine tasting at the Bluebell Vineyards which I will blog about soon.

I wouldn't have thought that I would have missed the trains so much throughout lockdown but I am very excited for them to start running again soon! Can you tell I'm not a commuter I think most people hate getting the trains!
