Fields of Yellow

August to me feels bittersweet. It is still Summer, but I can tell the end is nigh. I keep seeing things pop up about pumpkins and Christmas, whilst I love both of these things I am not ready to let go of these warm days and being outside.

But August does mean sunflowers. Last year, we visited two places to see them, one farm only had a small patch where the flowers were waist high (you can read that post here) and the other was much larger but we visited too late and most of them were past their best.

So when I saw that Four Winds farm were having an incredible year, I knew I had to book tickets and visit for myself.

It is obviously designed with children in mind; there are tractors, face painting, PYO, a maze, the sunflower trail but I love all these things, despite not having children. It was actually breath-taking to see this amazing field of yellow and they were over 6 foot high with some sunflowers as big as my head!

Tickets cost £7 per adult, there is parking and this year the field was located about a 5 minute walk away.

I already had a lovely bunch of sunflowers at home from a recent trip to Lidl so I didn't purchase any (now I wish I had purely for a prop point of view) but if you do want to pick some flowers they only cost 50p per stem.

Tickets are allocated an hours time slot, which for us was plenty of time. I think they did have a picnic area if you wanted to stay on for longer after you had been in the flower fields. The weather was a bit grey when we went which was great for photo's but we decided not to hang around for much longer than we needed to.

Despite my moans about not being able to visit Provence this year, this really was a fantastic place to visit as the field was vast and so beautiful.
