Sunflowers at Four Winds Farm

As many of you will know by now, I like to visit flower fields. It doesn't matter what they are but if they are interesting to photograph then I want to go. The problem with things like this is that they tend to be organised for families with young kids; I do not fall into this demographic so when Mr Poachie and I pulled up and the ticket lady peers into the car and asks 'just two adults?' it does feel a little odd to be there.

But I don't really care and its worth it for the photo's so off we skipped into the fields to find the money shot. The sunflower fields had been damaged by a herd of deer so they had turned it into a nature trail (100%  for the kids!) and also the sunflowers weren't as tall as I had hoped but we had some fun and took some pics if you would like to see...

If anyone is wondering whether this is pram friendly then the answer is yes, we saw a group of mums with their children/babies taking lovely photo's so whilst I think it is now closed for this summer, put it in your diaries for next year. They don't have a website but they are on Facebook under Pierson Agriculture and they normally have a pumpkin patch each year (see you there!).

Sunflowers in particular are my favourite, they always make me smile as they are so big and bright! I have a balcony off my bedroom which gets all of the morning sun so I am definitely going to grow some next spring/summer.

I know, I know this pose has been SO overdone but I really love it; I think it's romantic and it's good for me as I don't like myself in photo's so much but if I am having a good hair day I can tolerate the back of my head!!

For £6 entrance fee you also had the offer of a sheep shearing demo and a tractor ride. Mr Poachie put his foot down and said tractor ride was for the kiddies. Pah! When we are old and eccentric I shall travel on whatever modes of transport that I please! I am currently trying to persuade him that I should buy a Vespa with a side car but he's not into it.

So it was a lovely way to spend an hour! We decided against stopping for tea and cake as we are both trying to be good after spending 6 months of lockdown not exercising and eating far too many home baked goods and discovering many of our clothes have shrunk during lockdown (strange).

We are both back into the gym now and feeling much better for it.

Like sunshine in your hand!
