Chilham

I have wanted to visit Chilham since I saw an episode of Miss Marple 'The Moving Finger' which was filmed here in 2006. In fact, numerous things have been filmed here and after visiting myself, its not hard to see why.

A quintessential village located not far from Canterbury, it boasts 2 pubs, gorgeous Tudor facades houses and a castle.

Annoyingly, such a pretty village attracts a lot of people and many of the photo's I had hoped to take were either ruined by parked cars, scaffolding and people! But I hope you can get an idea from it from these images.

It reminded me a lot of mermaid street in Rye and also Chiddingstone village.

We had spent the morning canoring and by the time we arrived in Chilham we were both so hungry. So we parked up and headed towards the village pub (the other pub is located at the bottom of the hill).

Once fed and feeling human again, we went into the castle for a wander which only cost £5 each.

I hadn't done any research for this trip so I didn't know what to expect but it was a really gorgeous place to go with its sprawling lawns and gardens.

There is also a lake and many hidden corners filled with statues and sundials.

I will link the castle's website for you in case you would like to know more about it. I am a terrible tourist, I'm not so interested in the history of a place, I am more about the visuals.

We felt like royals prancing about the gardens. We met some lovely people too with their cute doggies in tow. I cannot wait until we have a pooch of our own to come on these adventures with us.

I would really like to return to Chilham to photograph it again without all of the annoyances of modern life getting in the way! It was a very pretty village and I clocked a tea room which might be worth stepping into..
