The Hyde

 

I have been living out my shepherds hut fantasies with a return stay at The Hyde. This was a gifted stay as I gave the owner my photos from our previous stay which you can read my blog post on here

The shepherds hut is located in West Sussex near the pretty village of Cuckfield. Surrounded by nature, it is a lovely place to relax and unwind. 

The hut is by a lake and there is a row boat that you can use. We enjoyed sitting by the water and watching the ducks and listening to the sounds of nature. We were also lucky enough to see a kingfisher!

The owners live nearby but you don't feel overlooked, the hut is well contained and the bathroom is just a short few steps away. The hut is dog friendly and you might get to meet the owners dog Tippy!

We walked Rosie when we arrived and was heading towards a vineyard but when we arrived it was closed so instead we visited The Bolney stage pub which you can walk to (takes around 30 mins).

The hut does have wifi but if you want to switch off and read a good book then this is the place to do it.

Last time we came I packed far too much stuff and it made the cabin a bit crowded so this stay I tried to go minimal, plus we were only staying for one night so we didn't need much.

The cabin has picnic basket, blankets, every cooking utensil you might need, books, a torch, supplies for the fire and logburner, board games... they have thought of everything.

The garden isn't secure though so Rosie being a little monkey kept escaping so in the end we had to keep her tied up.

When we returned from the pub I got the fire going and we put on an episode of 'Only murders in the building' which we both love.

I was hoping to do some moon bathing on the jetty but it was really chilly so we turned in for the night.

The next day was rainy which made it more beautiful here somehow?! 

After tea and breakfast we packed up and headed home.

I hope to stay again, I don't usually go back to places I have stayed before as my wishlist is so long but it was lovely to return here I really enjoyed it. The bed linen is dreamy!
