A picnic in the vines

I have always wanted to picnic in a vineyard and I can't think why it took me so long to get round to doing it. Now that I know where I can do this, I will be doing it each summer that's for sure!

Although perhaps not with Mr Poachie, he can't understand why I like vineyards so much and doesn't share my love of picnics but he was a very good boyfriend and let me live out my Pinterest dreams. To me, they are beautiful, green is my favourite colour and you are surrounded by the stunning vines. The vines produce my favourite wines and I love being outdoors and eating picnic food! Much more fun than going to a restaurant. However, perhaps not as cost effective...

This is Squerryes vineyard and whilst they allow you to picnic in the vines, you can't bring your own picnic. So you visit their deli which is onsite near the restaurant, and choose what items you would like in your picnic and they will pack it up for you and include glasses, wine cooler and cutlery.

Whilst the food we chose was nice, we spent £50 which included a bottle of rose so it wasn't the cheapest of picnics.. the deli had lots to choose from, we went for a focaccia, a small quiche, a sausage roll, sundried tomatoes, olives and a seafood salad.

The other reason I liked it here was that I was allowed to bring Rosie (dogs have to be on leads at all times). Although trying to eat a picnic when you have an energetic cockapoo with a Labradors appetite was a little testing!

When we arrived the weather looked a little iffy and it was trying to rain but thankfully the rainclouds soon passed and the sun came out to play.

There is plenty of parking here so the only worry is who is going to be the designated driver! If your man is not a wine lover like Mr Poachie then next door to the vineyard is a brewery which is worth a visit in itself as they often have food trucks and quiz nights, as well as great beers!
