The Pig at Bridge

The Pig hotels are my absolute favourite. I have previously stayed at The Pig in the New Forest and The Pig near Bath so when I knew that they were opening another one a little closer to home I was over the moon when Mr Poachie booked us a stay for my birthday.

I have posted ALOT of photos so apologies if it is too much but keep scrolling if you would like to see...

One of the million reasons I love their hotels is the attention to detail. The fireplaces, wood floors, carpets, art, glasswear is all in keeping. They have a very strong ethos about bringing the outside in and keeping the food local. It's also not snooty despite the price tags, the atmosphere is very laid back and the staff have always been very friendly.

We stayed in a comfy luxe room which means you get a fabulous roll top bath and monsoon shower. It was too hot to take a bath when we stayed but I just love these baths.

Inside the decor is quite old school with a great collection of bottles and fresh herbs everywhere.

I want to try and recreate some of these small touches at home.

The first port of call is always to have a cold beverage upon arrival.

Then I like to go and take a million photos of all of the rooms. Whoever designs these hotels has the most fabulous vision.

Our room wasn't actually in the main house which I think I would have preferred for a couple of reasons; they had obviously converted a new building so although the design was in keeping with the theme it wasn't as authentic as the house. Also, being on the ground floor was great as we had our own little private patio to sit out on but it meant we had to keep the blinds and curtains closed to ensure our privacy. The room looked out to the outside restaurant and walkways so the room seemed a bit dark when we were inside it. Which to be honest wasn't a lot of the time but I'm not a vampire and prefer to have the natural light.

The cocktail list is extensive. Mr Poachie isn't much of a drinker and generally only drinks beer.
I on the other hand could have done a lot of damage to both my bank account and liver.

Although the hotel was fully booked when we went, it was very quiet and you wouldn't have known that we were in a global pandemic.

The hotels are great in winter and summer and we said it would be nice to come back in the Autumn so we could enjoy snuggling up by the open fire places with board game and a steady flow of gin.

I really like tiled floors. Plus this was my first pedicure that I had had since lockdown so happy toes.

Taking a wander through the kitchen gardens. They grow so much here I would love to one day have something similar at home. With regards to our veg patch, our carrots started to sprout whilst we were away! I will do a separate update on that soon.

If I'm honest I thought the gardens were better at the hotel in Bath. These seemed less...photogenic.

Don't get me wrong, it was very pretty but they only had one greenhouse like this the others were plastic.

Mr Poachie is the one for being practical whereas I like everything to be beautiful. I must have some Italian in me.

Does anyone else get excited by glass jars?

Sadly, there were no piggies here as they had, um gone to piggy heaven but we did see the quails, sheep and chickens.

This is definitely how I am going to design my bathroom.

Bedroom details. I love the phones, light switches, roberts radio, the blankets...

Big fluffy white towels and gorgeous khaki robes which is great as I always get make up and fake tan all over my White Company bathrobe at home.

I think back in the day this used to be a country club before the Pig snapped it up to add to their litter.

What I would give to live here! Lady of the manor.

We didn't make use of the wellies but I love how you have the option to borrow a pair if you need to.

More pedicure spam.

Our patio.

I was also given a copy of their book so I am keen to use the recipes and try to make some of the oil infusions.

Sorry if I have bored you! I just love them!

Hopefully we will be back for a winter visit!
