Canal side musings in Canterbury

Last week Mr Poachie and I took a few days off and went up to Canterbury for the afternoon as we had booked an overnight stay at The Pig which was my birthday present. The hotel is located in the small town of Bridge which is about 15 mins drive out of the centre. As we lucked out with the weather we packed up a picnic and headed riverside.

I have visited Canterbury before but never seen this side of the river. I really love punting, I guess maybe because of my love for all things quintessentially British! But these scenes were dreamy.

Wherever I go my trusty Picnic blanket comes with.

How pretty is this? Wild flowers and oldy worldy houses. I was in my element.

And of course, wine!

We found a nice shady spot as it was just so hot and ate our picnics whilst trying to ward off some pesky seagulls.

I said to Mr Poachie I really want to go punting as a date but he says he feels it will be awkward as the punter will listen to your conversation! I don't care about things like that, I would pay my punter to sing or recite poetry if it could up the romance scale.

Plus as long as no-one is crooning obscenities into each others ears then there should be no problem.

Mirabeau putting the win in wine.

Once we had eaten and people watched for a bit, we decided it was too hot to do the riverside walk so we headed back to the car and made our merry way towards The Pig.

This water was just so clear! The ducks looked like they were having a wonderful time.

I'm actually going back to Canterbury soon on a girls trip so another post will follow I'm sure!

I hope you had a lovely weekend.
