Wreath making 2019 - The Walled Garden Nursery

Anyone who has been following me for a while will now understand my love of crafts and tradition.

I feel I am at my best when I am doing something creative. It's just wonderful seeing something that you have made (well, if it looks good and not like something a 4 yr old made an attempt at).

One of my favourite days of the year is when my girlfriends and I get together to make a Christmas wreath. We do it at different venues each time and this one back in 2019 was my favourite by a long shot.

We booked a course at the Walled garden nursery which sadly is now shut down which is such a shame as it really was a special place. Included in the price was lunch and their food is always fresh and delicious which was one of the reasons I was so happy that we booked in here.

The other reason I was so glad to be doing it here was the chance to be working in their gorgeous Victorian greenhouse. What an 'office'! I have always thought it must be nice to be a florist or a gardener but I loathe being cold so I would be terrible at it!

They provided the best selection of wreath foliage and decorations, it is quite hard to not go mad and jst choose a select few so that it all ties in together. I really like dried flowers and as I live in the countryside I wanted a real farmhouse feel to my wreath.

I chose a selection of pheasant feathers and some dried bits (I can't remember the name) and got to work!

After the usual sniggering about mossy rings, natch.

We were using the standard 9 inch wreath rings but one year I want to make a mahoosive 12 inch one, at Christmas you really can go big (just not with illuminated Santa on your roof).

I really was in my element. It's such a fun way to spend the morning and then you smile every day of December when you see your front door when you get home.

How beautiful are these greenhouses? It was up for sale last year, I don't think anyone bought it but I know they closed their doors around the time lockdown hit.

I might have snuck a few cheeky extra decorations in my bag in case I lost any on the drive home.

Look at all that dried pampas grass at the back!

There were 8 of us in the class and some of the ladies made incredible creations. I love seeing all of the different ideas people have.

Once we were done, we sat down to lunch and celebrated with a well deserved glass of Chapel Down sparkling wine. Bliss.

The restaurant was super cute. I love rusticness.

After buying some smellies from the gift shop we then went home to hang up our wreaths after another successful year!
