A Christmas Carol - The Beacon 2019

Are you ready to enter the world of Ebenezer Scrooge?

We took part in the immersive theatre put on by GOOMS at the Beacon last year and it was such a good evening I would definitely go again if they put on another show.

The tickets included a three course dinner in the price and we were sat in the beautiful (and well heated) bell tent in the gardens of the Beacon. This venue has recently been redone and it has obviously had some serious cash monies put into it as it is simply stunning.

Once inside, we bought a few drinks, took our seats and sat back to enjoy the show.

We started off in true festive spirit with a Christmas carol. Who doesn't love a good sing song?!

The cast only had 4/5 people in it and it was very clever, they had to swap characters at times and it was very amusing. The food was served in between acts so you could focus on the action without being distracted by the yummy food that was being served.

I didn't want to run out of drinks!

It is actually quite rare that Mr Poachie and I get to drink together, he doesn't drink  that much and can happily go out and just have a beer but on this evening we got a taxi so we could both let our hair down and have a giggle, and that we did!

It was quite an intimate evening I don't think there was more that 40 people in the tent and everyone was in high spirits, our table was great fun!

I must have watched the film 'A Christmas Carol' a dozen times but it had only dawned on me the message of the tale. I think it was because I was having therapy myself at the time for various reasons and it dawned on me that it was a tale of redemption.

Sadly GOOMS productions have had to cancel their shows this year due to covid but if next year we can go out once more I would recommend this if you are local and like a bit of amdram!
