How to make Christmas crackers

Making Christmas crackers means you need a lot of loo roll so I would like to make a disclaimer that I have been saving loo rolls for months and NOT panic buying loo rolls in lockdown!

This is my second time making Christmas crackers and although it can seem like a fiddly task, it is so worth it in my opinion as you can personalise them. Crackers are something you have to have on Christmas day but usually they come with crappy gifts, terrible jokes and hats that no one wears.

When you make them yourself you can write personal messages, buy more thoughtful gifts, you just need to be organised!

So here is a list of what you will need;

strong paper
toilet roll tubes
snappers - I bought mine from Hobbycraft
ribbon or string
sellotape
glue
toys/sweets/fillers
scissors

To start, I stuck three pieces of loo roll tube to my paper. Then I stuck the snapper down to the inside of the middle loo roll.
Roll the paper over and sellotape together so you have a long pipe.
Carefully twist one end to form one end of your cracker and tie with ribbon or string to secure it. Then, turn it the other way so you can drop in the sweets/toys or whatever fillers you are using. Then scrunch the other side and tie with string.
Glue on your guests name and ta dah! You have your first cracker!

You might need to trim the sides down but this is personal preference as to how you would like them. It is a good idea to look on Pinterest first to see what style or theme you would like to make. I like using brown paper and string, I am a basic kind of girl!

I had a lot of fun making these and am very much looking forward to everyone reading their jokes on Christmas day!
