The Nutcracker - A festive date in London 2019

Mr Poachie has done some good dates but the best one in our relationship was when he took me to the Royal Ballet to see the Nutcracker. I had gone to see it previously in 2018 with some girlfriends where we bought the cheapest seats for like £10 each but as you can imagine they were in the 'nose bleed' section as they were so high up!

So as a surprise pre Christmas treat in 2019, he booked us box seats which was just the most wonderful and fun experience. We made a day of it, I mean who doesn't like seeing London in December so the first place we went to was to see the big F&M tree at Somerset House. We didn't go ice skating but it was fun to visit as I had never been before.

Then we had lunch at Hawksmoor in Seven Dials. We are both real foodies and love steak but not yet tried Hawksmoor despite hearing rave reviews and it didn't disappoint. The restaurant itself is really cool, very swish decor and the service was good. From what I can remember the bill wasn't too eye watering as they did a set lunch menu so it was really reasonable.

We then walked around a bit more and went to Covent Garden/Seven Dials before heading to the Coliseum theatre for our matinee performance of the Nutcracker.

I was like an excited child, I love going to the theatre as it feels like such a special treat and being in a box was awesome! Mr Poachie kept me plied with prosecco and I was living my best life.

The performance was beautiful, it looked like a magical world that I wanted to be a part of. I would be a terrible ballerina though, I love cheeseburgers and I can't touch my toes so there goes that childhood dream.

The music, the lights! So good.

The stage design was also really cool, I particularly loved the hot air balloon. I didn't want to sit on my phone the whole time taking pictures so I tried to narrow it down to my favourite bits.

After the show was over we headed to Petersham nurseries in Covent Garden for a post ballet glass of vino. Petersham nurseries was another awesome date that Mr Poachie had taken me on and I loved this particular red wine so we felt we should check out the bar and have it again.

Top boyfriend points, happy me!!
