Halloween

I really like Halloween. I like most occasions and any reason to celebrate and decorate I am down. Last year I honestly bought around 40 pumpkins which is a little excessive I admit but it was my first Halloween where I had been able to decorate so I grabbed the pumpkins by the balls and went big!

I decided I wanted to decorate the outside of the house with lots of pumpkins by the door, I had made an autumnal pampas grass wreath and I made some cardboard bat cut outs to place in the windows. Mr Poachie was also on board, he came home from the supermarket one day with 10 massive pumpkins. We are kindred spirits.

The sad truth about me is that I went all out to decorate and I live in the middle of the countryside where no one will come trick or treating. I also don't have kids. so this was purely for my enjoyment but I live by the mantra 'do more of what makes you happy'. Pumpkins = happiness.

I also had some much smaller pumpkins that lived inside for a table centre piece, some of these pumpkins are still with me today! I think this year I am going to try and grow my own as I did end up spending a small fortune.

I also made some Halloween biscuits for my team at work because I am a feeder.

Is it even a gift if its not wrapped in cellophane? I try and keep a few rolls In the house at all times.

As you cant have an occasion that doesn't involve eating your body weight in chocolate I bought some ghoulish treats for Mr Poachie.

One of my favourite lunch spots was getting in to Halloween, this was a cake made by  Juliets in Tunbridge Wells

I'm bats for you...

Death by cake. Sounds like a terrible Agatha Christie novel.

I think England has definitely got on board with the Halloween trend as we now have quite a few PYO own pumpkin patches and a lot of the farm shops also sell a great variety.

This is one of my favourite farm shops Castle Farm

Punpkins galore!

If I was a millionaire I think I would buy them all. some people like Louboutins, I like big orange vegetables.

There is also Four Winds Farm in Penshurst that has a PYO patch.

Also near me is Plaw Hatch Farm

They have a nice farm shop café and also a great selection of cheese, pastries, meats and other delights.

A bit of Kirstie Allsop crafting makes my soul happy.

I used a basic biscuit recipe which you can find here and then I bought some ready made icing which Mr Poachie rolled out and cut. You just need a little water to make it stick.

I ordered some biscuit cutters from amazon which you can find similar here

Why are mini white pumpkins so cute?

All in all, it was an impressive effort and a tradition I intend to keep doing. I love the houses in London that really go to town on the decorations and cover their front doors in cobwebs. I might step it up in 2020...
