Jardin Majorelle, Marrakech

The Jardin Majorelle was on my Marrakech hit list, mainly because of these fabulous colours and the garden is filled with plants and cacti. It was really busy; I think it is a bit of an Instagram sensation but with the colours its not hard to see why.

Once inside though it was really peaceful, It reminded me of Alcazar in Seville.

We arrived by taxi quite early in the morning as we suspected there might be queues, which there were but it moved quite quickly. Once inside it didn't feel like an Insta-feeding frenzy... until we reached the actual museum of Yves Saint Laurent and then it was like being in a beehive!

Admission was 70 dirhams which is only around £6 so well worth the visit.

They also had a small courtyard café. All of the food and drink that we had in Morocco was so fresh and healthy. I might do a separate post on places to eat as I had done so much research which was well worth it as we didn't have a bad meal and generally speaking it was wallet friendly. I also discovered Moroccan rosé which was divine.

As we got closer to the main part of the garden it did get very crowded, there were endless 'photo shoots' which was at first amusing but then it did get a bit annoying. It didn't ruin our enjoyment of the gardens but it did take the shine off a little. Mainly because I wanted my own photoshoot, natch.

I apologise to anyone who likes reading blog posts about the history and facts about somewhere; this isn't that kind of blog. Thankfully Mr Poachie is into all of the vital statistics of life, so he tells me all about it over coffee and cake later. I'm more concerned about camera angles and light.

This was the money shot where everyone wanted to sit on the stairs and pose naturally. Obviously I had my own five minutes of glory but I am actually quite uncomfortable in front of the camera so, in all of those pictures, I look like a grimacing, awkward gnome as so many people were watching.

This is much more my style. So candid, so natural...
