Saint Aymes - celebrating Bastille day

Last night was my first ever PR event that I have been invited to. The reason for the event was to celebrate Bastille day and to do so, there was a plentiful amount of rose. The dress code was pink so I was in my absolute heaven!

I received the invite a week ago and as I gladly RSVP'd, I asked if I could bring a plus one in the form of Miss Tilly. We hopped on the train with some tinnies of pink G&T's and made the most of a wonderfully sunny evening in London! I haven't been into the city since before lockdown and it felt like nothing had changed, but living in a village means that I think most places are really busy.

The event was in the most girly setting at Saint Aymes on Connaught Street. We were greeted with a flight of rose's to try which were from the Rhone Valley in France. As you all know I love my rose wine and it was great to discover some new varieties.

After swooning over this gorgeous cafe, we sat down to listen to Sophia from Skin and Pulp talk about the region of France that the wines come from and how they differ from the wines that you might have tried that have come from Provence. It was interesting to learn about the varieties of grapes and how they can be affected by the cooler winds from the coast.

We were also treated to some delicious canapes which were also pink! It was such a girly evening we had a lovely time. It was a great event to meet other like minded people, we chatted to wine bloggers and got some great advice on writing and how to further ourselves in terms of social media.

It makes me giggle when we introduce ourselves as Tilly and Lilly sounds so country bumpkin!

The event was actually quite a small affair which was good as the cafe isn't that big. The event was being filmed and photographed so I'm intrigued to see the images when they are ready.

In case you don't know what Bastille day is or why we celebrate, on July 14th 1789 an angry mob stormed Bastille (a military fortress and prison) releasing those who were unfairly imprisoned and this signalled the start of the French revolution.

I have been dreaming of moving to France recently, I am obsessed with the thought of visiting lavender fields and brocante fairs. I want to swim in lakes and drink endless rose.

For now, I will just continue to drink here!

Although I do feel a little fuzzy headed today...

Did you celebrate Bastille day?
