Punting the river Cam with The Traditional Punting company

There is something so relaxing being by the water and many people have said that the only way to appreciate the beautiful architecture of Cambridge, is to do so by going on a punt!

When I booked my trip to Cambridge I started doing a lot of research about which company to use. I had heard very good things about Rutherford punting, but I decided to book with The Traditional Punting Company.

We follow each other on instagram and when I mentioned that I was visiting the city they kindly offered me a tour for free in exchange for a social media write up. However this was for a shared tour so instead I booked a private tour for myself and Mr Poachie which they gave us a discount.

Our guide was really friendly and knowledgeable and didn't mind when I asked him if he could slow the punt down as we approached the Bridge of Sighs as that was my money shot! He acknowledged my diva request with grace!

The tour lasted 50 minutes and we saw all nine bridges which varied greatly. We also saw the incredible colleges and heard details about the rooms there, 3rd year students at the Trinity college all have grand piano's in their room, can you imagine! I would love to be that clever to be able to study here.

He also told us some great stories about what some of the students got up to, which included climbing to the top of the building towers to put a bollard on top of it!

I loved the stories about the architects and designers of the buildings, which include opium addicts, alcoholics and perfectionists.

If you want to see the real beauty of the city then going on a punt is a must. I assume some visitors might think that there can't be much difference between the tours but we saw some tours starting further up the river which Im guessing means you might not see all there is to offer and some of the tour guides looked a little scruffy!

I was very pleased with our tour, it was relaxing, romantic and we came away with some awesome photo's and some good knowledge on the city. Oh also, we remained dry!
