Our Cotswolds stay

A few months ago Mr Poachie and I decided to book an Autumnal mini break to the Cotswolds. We have both been before but I wanted to take some new photos and on my previous visits I have never felt that I truly got to see any of the real Cotswolds; just the very busy touristy spots and to be honest I was failing to see what people loved so much about it.

I had wanted to stay at the Little Cotswold Cottage but it was fully booked so I found this gorgeous place on Airbnb and for around £100 a night it was a bargain so we booked it asap!

Located in Fairford, everything was within driving distance. It had parking just up the road, big comfy beds, a roll top bath and plenty of charm! It was perfect for our stay.

You did risk your life on the staircase and I managed to bump my head on the light fitting once a day but it was absolutely adorable. There were so many books and niknaks it brought out the place's character. Once I had decided the place wasn't haunted, you could imagine it in the olden times, very Sherlock Holmes/Victorian and mysterious.

Our bed was enormous and so comfy. I suffer with back problems and usually wake up with pain in my lower back but didn't have a problem at all during our stay. The room was very warm, very dark at night and the bed sheets were lovely and soft. The cottage is next to a busy road so you could hear some noise but I slept really well.

Obviously this little kitchen isn't the type that you would be happy to cook a full Christmas dinner in but we had supper out every night so it was perfect for making tea and crumpets!

The owners must love vintage shopping as it was filled with vases, books, mirrors, candles, pictures...

I love all the details in the home like that.

I had a wonderful soak in the tub with a glass of fizz! The perfect way to end a long day of exploring.

The property had two bedrooms but I think it would have been a little crowded if more people were there but if you did need a bigger property this was excellent value for money as usually rentals in this area are so expensive. The place I had wanted to book would have cost us around £800 instead of the £350 we paid here.

The cottage was also lovely and warm, I'm one of those people who really feels the cold and I can't bear it. Whenever Mr Poachie and I drive anywhere I switch the heated seats on and have some form of blanket on my legs, I am such an old lady!

The cottage also came with a lot of board games, dvd's and books so there was plenty to keep you occupied if you fancied a cozy night in by the log burner.

We loved our stay! I will do posts soon on where we visited.. warning there will be a lot of thatched houses and cute villages!
