Date night at the Chequers in Lamberhurst
Last week the lovely Ella at The Chequers pub in Lamberhurst got in touch with me via insta and invited me to a complimentary dinner at their newly renovated pub.
As it has all of the ingredients for a perfect date night so I couldn't say no... whilst this was a gift I would genuinely recommend the pub.
Located on Lamberhurst's high street the pub has a car park and also has parking outside on the street.
The pub wasn't very busy when we arrived as we booked in for an early dinner because we are truly OAP's in the making!
The pub was very traditional old English with wooden floors and log burners. It felt very cosy.
We loved the quirky reserved signs and the menu's made us giggle. I love the small finer details that for me is what makes the difference and makes somewhere more memorable.
We ordered a bottle of the Gusbourne sparking rose which was delicious.
For starters we ordered the king scallops and wild boar chipolatas. Both were absolute perfection.
I love scallops so much. I think anytime they are on the menu I would always order them.
Does anyone else always google the menu before you visit the restaurant so you know exactly what to order before you arrive? And then you have to pretend to the waitress like you need time to think about the options... I knew well in advance that I was going to order the truffle mac'n'cheese and Mr Poachie was going to order the cheeseburger!
I loved how they described the pasta like 'popping on a pair of silk slippers at the table'.
Mr Poachie is a real pale ale lover and chose to sample one which meant more fizz for me!
Mr Poachie chose blue cheese for his burger and it was so good, we had agreed to share our mains but I didn't want to give up my mac'n'cheese because it was sooooo delicious! I loved every bite.
I am obsessed with truffle, I have truffle mayo, truffle oil, truffle pasta I think it is so good mixed with eggs and cheese.
Now after our mains we were really full but one of the desert options was a chocolate brownie with honeycomb ice cream so obviously we had to try that! It didn't disappoint but man we were full up!
We were blown away by the whole evening, I couldn't believe that they had asked me to come along as my insta has only just got to 2k followers and my blog is still fairly new. I was expecting them to only let me order from a set menu and perhaps only have one glass of house wine but we were spoilt rotten. The service was great and the atmosphere was nice and cosy, I would honestly recommend it.
My friends keep teasing me about being an 'influencer' which I really don't feel I am but I am grateful to have been asked and it makes me excited for what opportunities there might be in the future (although living like this eating yummy meals for free will make me chubby).
