Day tripping in Oxford

When we checked out of our Airbnb in the Cotswolds we didn't want to head straight home and waste a day off so we thought we would drive into Oxford for a mooch and to have some lunch.
With one last photo stop in Burford, we made our merry way out of the cute villages and onto Oxford city centre.

We parked in the Westgate shopping centre and had a look around some of the shops. I am not into shopping as I prefer to do it online but there was a Zara, Mango and H&M which are my faves so as it was really quiet it was actually really nice to have a look at the Autumn clothes.
Mr Poachie keeps telling me off as I keep buying coats and I already have a large collection of them but I am obsessed. I want them in all styles, colours they complete the outfit! To be fair to me I have just given a a lot of clothes to charity but now with the new autumn/winter stuff coming in I can't help but buy more sweaters and scarves.

We then headed out towards the university campus's but they were closed so we walked around to the library and though it would be nice to come back one day to do a private tour so we can look at the old buildings and streets.
I never went to uni and have never lived in a city (other than Sydney) so I think if I had to live in a city, it might be Oxford. Or perhaps Bath. I like these parts of England as the buildings are beautiful and it is close to the countryside.
I was hoping to go punting but we couldn't find a chauffeured punting company like they have in Canterbury and we were too tired to do it ourselves! So we gave up on that idea and headed in search of lunch.
After wondering around aimlessly not being about to commit to a restaurant we both wanted to go to, you know when you are both saying ' I don't mind, you choose' and then never find anywhere? We were doing that and getting hangry.
We were trying to avoid chain restaurants and I wanted to go to a riverside pub but they were closed or fully booked so we settled on Byron and stuffed our faces with cheeseburgers.
So that was our trip away! I am now on a major diet, back to protein shakes and porridge with soups for lunch! We don't have anything booked in now until December when we are going to the Bath Christmas markets (covid permitting) so I want to be really good until Christmas. I need to cut down on drinking and stop eating fatty foods all the time!
