Cotswolds Day Two - Thatched houses and Country Pubs

I would be lying if I told you that we just stumbled across these pretties... no no these were planned destinations as I really wanted to get some super cute photos of these adorable chocolate box houses.

Where to find them? Keep scrolling, scrolling, scrolling...

Chipping Campden is the thatched postcode of dreams. We saw a lot of expensive cars and incredible homes. It actually didn't feel real walking around here because it was so picture perfect, there wasn't a blade of grass out of place.

I really want to stay in a windmill and a thatched house. Mr Poachie doesn't understand it as when you are inside you wouldn't know any different but it is on my bucket list, how cute to come home and see this everyday!

We actually saw the family that lived in this cottage when I was taking photographs of it. I wonder if they thought I was mad or if they are used to people doing it in this insta age we live in? I felt a bit like I was paparazzi sticking my camera in the bushes trying to get all these shots!

We didn't go in to the main street of the town but I wish we had, it looked like Bath (as so much of the Cotswold's does) with the sandstone town houses and paved streets. It was really lovely and I would go back here.

We also drove to Honington to find some more thatched house porn. But there isn't anything else to see so don't expect much else, it was like a cul de sac?

So in my last post I wrote about how Mr Poachie and I love to plan... on this day neither of us thought to check if Anne Hathaway's cottage would be open, (Shakespeare's wife, not the Hollywood actress) which it wasn't! I had presumed it was just a house like no other but looking back that's silly as of course it is going to be privately owned. So we drove all the way to Stratford-upon-avon only to find we couldn't go in. As we had made  few stops on the way it wasn't a totally wasted journey but this is why it is always best to check and plan these things!

So we drove to Chipping Norton to find this gorgeous ivy clad pub which was in a tiny village of thatched houses. Houses here would set you back around £850k but I think it would be worth it for the squeak factor!

Speaking of squeaking, Mr Poachie made me laugh as he said my 'squeak-o-meter' would be going off in the Cotswolds which it certainly did!

The house above is in Honington and the house below is in Bretforton.

Stopped for lunch at The George which incidentally was a sister pub of where we went in Stow-in-the-wold.

Later on that evening we popped in to The Wild Rabbit in Kingham which I have wanted to visit for years! We couldn't get a table for dinner as they were fully booked but we stopped off for a drink as we made a dinner reservation at The Kingham Plough. Both pubs were lovely, they all have that Cotswold charm of stone interiors, open fires and luxurious furnishings.

So for supper I went all in for the fish! We ordered oysters, salmon and moules! It was all so delicious, we are both massive foodies so despite the fact we now need to be on a strict diet, we definitely enjoyed ourselves when we were away.

I think it is important to let yourself indulge but I feel with lockdown I have been in holiday mode consistently?! I have been over eating and drinking and definitely not exercising enough so now I want to focus on my health and getting my booty back in shape!

Now that it is autumn I can have lots of yummy homemade soups and take long autumn walks. I have also been doing Heather Robertson workout videos at home. They are only 30 mins long so there is no excuse to not do it. I read recently that an hour of exercise is only 4% of your day and considering I am sat at my laptop all day it makes me feel so much better to get up and move my body.

Anyway, back to the food! We were well looked after and had an excellent dinner.
