My cottage dreams are coming true

I have some exciting news, we are moving house! Not only moving but buying a house! And not just any house, it is a wonky cottage. This has always been a dream of mine and I can't quite believe it is happening but lets start at the beginning.

We currently live in a lovely village and we are renting a house. The house is great and we have lived here happily for a few years but we received a phone call from the estate agents advising that the landlord wants to sell.

This was the call I had been dreading, I was never really comfortable in renting for two reasons, we are paying off someone else's mortgage and we aren't secure. So when we got this phone call I was in tears and started to panic.

Moving is such a pain and we really love where we live. It can be so hard trying to find somewhere and I really didn't want to leave the place where we had made it home. But we had seen a house for sale, still in the same village and it had previously been under offer but the sale had fallen through so we went back to visit it.

For me, it is a dream cottage. It has beams, an ingle nook fireplace, lattice windows, a butler sink, a stable door. It's cottage core perfection, with very wonky floors. The garden has an apple tree and a summer house, a shed for Patsy (my bike) and a shed for Mr Poachie. What's more, it has three double bedrooms, all light and airy, the front door doesn't walk straight into the living room and there is a downstairs bathroom with utility space. All of this and its within our budget!

There was one slight drawback which is that the immediate garden from the back door isn't enclosed; its like a communal patio, separated from the neighbors by planters. The actual garden you have to walk to and is then gated. So my main worry was not being able to let Rosie out on her own for fear of her chasing a cat. But Mr Poachie, being the practical Pat that he is, has come up with a plan to fix this so that she can be safe, its aesthetically pleasing and I won't have to worry.

So, we put in an offer, slightly under the asking and this was accepted! So now we are looking for some builders to do a little bit of work and to provide quotes and all being well and good, we are hoping to exchange and complete soon!

I'm so excited for this next chapter, my vision is to fill the cottage with teapots, books, florals, cushions, bed spreads and all things cute.

I want to paint the summerhouse and plant lots of beautiful flowers.

I want to bake lots of cakes and read books by the fire, maybe start painting and just enjoy the cottage.

For privacy purposes, I haven't photographed the cottage on this blog post but if you follow me on Insta, I'm sure I will post some content when we have moved in.

Wish us luck for the move!
