Chateau St Victor La Coste

If you have ever dreamed of staying in a French Chateau, look no further than Chateau Saint Victor La Coste

This beautiful home is located in the small village of St Victor La Coste, in Provence. I stumbled across the photo of the pool on Instagram and after doing a bit more research I knew I had to stay here.

The chateau has three stone cottages set around THAT pool (which has been featured in Conde Nast thank you very much), and also a suite inside the main property. The chateau can also be rented in its entirety to sleep around 18 people, what a venue that would be!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Costas and shown through the green gate and immediately were transported to a private oasis which could have been in Tuscany. I fell in love with the garden, with its rose scent and hidden statues, I knew I had made the best choice.

It is intimate and beautiful, this property attracts a certain type of guest as no-one was loud/annoying/hogged the daybeds. When renting a cottage here, you have access to the shared kitchen with your own fridge, the honesty bar and breakfast is included in the rate.

The owners Alison and Costas live in the chateau and we got chatting to them about their lives, their home, running a holiday home and we felt so welcomed by them, especially when they invited us over for a drink and a tour of the main chateau.

Inside, their home is eclectic and almost like a museum with interesting artefacts and paintings. We thought we would only be about 30 minutes with them but we ended up staying for over 2 hours just drinking and chatting and marveling over their incredible home.

This is sometimes used as a wedding venue and it would be the most magical place. The chateau is deceptively large! On their website they ask you to be patient when you ring the doorbell upon arrival as it might take them some time to come and answer the door..

The surrounding area is very sleepy and peaceful. The chateau is in a small village with one restaurant, a pharmacy (the French love their pharmacies!) a tabac and a well stocked shop. There are nearby towns like Uzes which is worth driving too (around 30 minutes) and the Pont du Gard, a Roman aqueduct which is a great place to swim or kayak.

Whilst we did visit these place, I always found it hard to tear myself away from the pool. It was the most relaxing place to be. The pool water is infused with magnesium which is lovely for your skin and I particularly enjoyed swimming after dinner and the bats were flying overhead. Totally dreamy.

We spoke to the group of guests who were staying at the same time as us and they all adored it here and seemed to be very emotional when they left. Alison and Costas are such great hosts that I too felt very sad to be leaving not just for the surrounding beauty but because we felt like we had become friends.

I would definitely recommend this property, its not like a hotel so don't expect concierge and table bookings. Alison was telling me that because of social media, lots of bloggers and influencers were now making bookings and they request things like breakfast at the table by the roses... I totally get it, if it hadn't have been for social media I wouldn't have seen this property but I hope it doesn't ruin someone else's holiday because there is a photoshoot going on by the pool.

The rooms don't have AC and the wifi wasn't that good unless you were in the main house. I wasn't bothered by either of these things but if this is important to you, it might not be your vibe.
But if you are happy to drink rose, read books and swim then you must book this place but hurry, they get booked up very quickly!

I sincerely hope our paths cross again, our whole trip to Provence was wonderful but the magic of St Victor La Coste will stay with me forever.
