The Pig on the beach

The Pig on the beach lived up to my expectations and more. In fact, out of all of the Pigs, this might have been one that wasn't so high up on my list but it was excellent. I think because the style of the building had put me off slightly, I wasn't sure about the yellow building with the turrets and hobbit houses, it reminded me of the hotel in Roald Dahl's 'The Witches'. But I needn't have worried, it still had all of the amazing Piggy details that makes me love it.

We had originally booked this break to visit in April but we had to move it due to being in lockdown but we had the best weather, it was really hot thank you October sunshine! Although one of the things I like about the Pig hotels is that they are awesome all year round. I had half hoped we would have had moody weather so we could go on stormy beach walks and then return to gin and tonics in the bath and playing board games in the snug by the fire.

Instead we had cocktails outside and long glorious walks in the sunshine, I still had a g&t in the bath though. We had booked a 'generous room' which costs a little more but I wanted to stay in the house and I loved that the room had a rolltop bath in the bedroom.

I was a little nervous about bringing Mr Poachie back to another Pig as we were both disappointed with our stay at the Pig at Bridge, these hotels aren't cheap and I want him to love them like I do!

Thankfully, it was fabulous and we both had a great time. The staff were so friendly, all of the food and drinks were delicious, the decor was stunning and authentic and we came away feeling rested and happy.

We didn't have anything on the agenda before we visited, we just wanted a break and to enjoy some quality time together but we did end up getting out to explore. I wish we had booked two nights as there was lots to see and do!

The Pig on the beach isn't actually on the beach but its only a short walk away. The day we arrived we stopped off at Durdle Door so we decided against visiting another beach and did the cliff walk instead to Old Harry's Rocks which is a National Trust walk.

I cant help but take a lot of photo's when I am visiting, I adore the whole aesthetic. I think the design and attention to detail is spot on.

Sadly they didn't have any piggies to say hello to but we walked around the kitchen garden and mainly just enjoyed the views!

I overindulged in the bar.. the bartender really knew his stuff and with their 25 mile radius menu even the drinks were sourced locally so when I asked for a Hendricks he served me a 'Twisted nose' gin which was so good and he managed to convince Mr Poachie to have a whisky and cigar after dinner!

Speaking of dinner we had the most amazing food, I ordered the Beef chuck pie and Mr Poachie had the fish. So So good. Then after dinner we had some after dinner drinks, I had the most delicious Cotswold cream (like Baileys).

I have already started planning our next trip away, I am thinking of visiting the Pig in the South downs over the winter for a cozy getaway. It's an expensive night away, but its an excuse to indulge and feel spoilt. With our room (which was enormous) overlooking the bay, I certainly felt like the Queen of the manor when having a bath and enjoying the views!
