Birchden PYO Pumpkins 2021

Last weekend we had some friends over for Sunday lunch and we decided to take their daughter for her first ever visit to a pumpkin patch!

Despite having no kids myself, I have been pumpkin picking a few times (its not just for kids!) I really like this tradition and my home and front door step is fully decorated with all things Autumnal.

I am starting to think that Autumn/Halloween and Easter are my favourite times of year.

We went to Birchden farm pumpkin patch in Groombridge. We bought tickets online which was £5 per car and this gets you £2 off your final pumpkin purchases.

There is plenty of parking but its located in a field so wear sensible boots!

The pumpkins were mostly the standard orange kind, I didn't pick any for myself as I have gone a bit overboard already this year - photo's coming soon! But I would have bought a large white ghost pumpkin if they had them there.

I try to buy some in each variety. I love how different they all are and I can't wait to cook some! I think I will make some soups with them and perhaps roast them. I understand that there is a lot of controversy with PYO pumpkins now as it has become so popular  and there is a feel that it is just food waste so I make sure I do something with them afterwards.

How cute is she?! She is such a little pudding,, always so well behaved and just adorable. Days with her are the best days.

I do understand that places like this are for the kids and it is magical to see them running around having so much fun, she insisted on picking up multiple pumpkins some of which were way too big for her little arms to carry. so cute.

It was a great day, I love Sundays. After we were finished at the pumpkin patch we had a lunch at home; steak pie with red wine and a spiced chocolate chip cake for dessert. The best kind of day.
