A day of vineyards

A few weeks ago, me and my friend Tilly met up for a day of drinking in the vineyards. Its what we do best.

We had originally only planned a walk and some fizz at Hush Heath but then she found out that Herbert Hall winery was also going to be open, and they are a short taxi ride from each other, so we visited both!

Tilly is very into her English wines and with such a great selection of vineyards in the area, you can see why. Herbert Hall is a small vineyard located in Marden. It is rustic and family run. We enjoyed a bottle of sparkling wine and had a good old natter next to the vines.

Feeling fruity, we then headed over to Hush Heath which is a much larger, state of the art type of establishment.

We took a walk through their vineyards, there is a lovely trail that takes around 40 minutes and it makes you appreciate how much work is must be to tend to the grapes. They offer self guided tours and tours and tastings but we have both visited before so just took ourselves around the estate.

After our walk we ordered a flight of wine to taste some of the different varieties and then we ordered a glass of their rose, this was really good!

Thankfully we were both able to get lifts to a from the vineyard, it would be such a waste if one of us had to drive.

Both vineyards are brilliant and worth a visit if you like wine. We didn't need to book in advance but I would recommend getting to Herbert Hall early as it is smaller and it soon began to fill up as the day went on.
