Bank holiday weekend

In between packing boxes (thank you Mr Poachie) we managed to squeeze in some time to enjoy the fabulous weather over the bank holiday weekend.

We had our leaving party which consisted of a BBQ, games of croquet and al fresco dining.

Last year, I tried to create the perfect croquet scene but I was never really happy with the images, so this year, whilst the lawn was set up, I tried again.

I rummaged through the whole house for props, set it up and waited for the light to be just so.

I'm not going to lie, I enjoyed many a Pimm's waiting for the sun to be less bright!

Does anyone else feel that Pimm's has gone out of fashion? Years ago, my friends and I would order pitchers of Pimm's to be enjoyed in a pub garden and now I feel that's not something that we would order.

I think the likes of Aperol and rosé have gone up in public favour but nevertheless, I enjoyed my fruit cup.

It has felt very bittersweet, the thought of moving out of where we are currently living. I signed a rental agreement back in February 2019 for only three months; I was separated from my ex husband and I needed some headspace. I knew I wanted to live in the countryside and I couldn't believe my luck when I found this property.

Two years on and its only now that I am about to move out, which is kind of bonkers to me. I was so scared when I moved in, I had no idea what I was doing and I was terrified of ending up alone and homeless but things have really worked out. I have so enjoyed the peace of countryside living; when I say peace I mean the calm way of life, not so much the quiet as the countryside is so much noisier than you could imagine!

We have had such a giggle here and every time I sit out on my balcony, enjoying my morning coffee, surrounded by fields and nature, I have felt like I needed to pinch myself.

Whilst I am very excited to move to our next location and enjoy quintessential village life, I know in my soul I am destined to end up in the countryside, with no neighbours except for sheep and horses. I just need to figure out how I am going to finance it!

I am SO glad we have one more day off and it's going to be a sunny one. We don't have much planned except for lunch in the garden and enjoying the last few days of calling this wonderful place our home.
