Classic Car show at Chiddingstone Castle

Today I went to Chiddingstone Castle as they were hosting their annual Classic car show. I had been helping them promote the event so naturally I was going to attend to photograph the event and document the occasion for their social media channels.

In truth, I don't know much about cars other than some look truly fabulous! There was a real mix of cars, there were Rolls Royce's, MG's, Porsche's, Triumph, Jaguar, Volvo, Ford Mustang, Morris Minor, Morgan, Mercedes... and many more!

It was great to see them all driving up the castle driveway. I spoke to many of the car owners (mainly to see if they would let me sit inside the cars!) and you could tell how proud they were to own such beauties.

We met someone who owned a Rolls Royce 'Silver Shadow' which he bought for £10k, it was then used in the television series 'Its a sin' and he is hoping to carry on using the car for features like this so that the car will start making him money.

I had a few personal favourites; the blue Porsche was particularly sexy and I also loved this little cream convertible Morris Minor as it looked a little like a VW Beetle which I really want to own one day.

We saw campervans & mini's, my camera roll is now filled with a ton of photo's of cars which isn't my usual subject for photography but it was a fun morning all the same.

In previous years, there would be around 300 cars parked up on their lawn but with restrictions on space they put a limit to 50 cars. I think even then they could have allowed space for more today, and it proved to be really popular.

This event is the first of many this year, they will be hosting jazz on the lawn, outdoor theatre, painting workshops among other things. Check out their events page on Facebook or on their website for further details.

The owners of the above car (forgive me I don't know what it is) let me sit in their car. I pulled the old 'I'm the social media manager' card and it worked as I promised them a feature on social media. It was very snug and low inside. I love the old steering wheels it must be such a dream to drive.

Mr Poachie and I talked about what classic car we might buy in the future.. I'm still sticking to my plan of buying a VW campervan and a VW convertible Beetle, toot toot!

What would you buy?
