Mothering Sunday weekend

Hello, I hope you all had a lovely weekend dodging the rain showers and hopefully celebrating Mothers day? I know for so many it wouldn't have been the usual way of a big family Sunday lunch and this year might feel particularly poignant as we have all suffered so much loss.

Mr Poachie and I had a bit of a slow weekend, we took his Mum some daff's from the garden and some choccies and then went for a long walk. When we came home we had tea and crumpets and I did the crossword, it was a verrrry chill weekend.

We have started house hunting as the market has started to pick up so we were in Ticehurst on Saturday viewing a property that I have fallen in love with.
It is a grade II listed cottage on the high street and it is adorable! It doesn't have parking or a grassy garden but it does have wooden beams, a wooden front door, a butler sink, a log burner, period features and exposed brick. The decked area to the back of the property is south facing so for me, it ticks a lot of boxes.
But I am a dreamer, Mr Poachie is far more practical. He understands that whilst it is very sweet, its also very small. Whilst it is set in a village location, the busy road and the no parking will soon become an issue.
Despite all this, we have put in an offer as this isn't going to be our forever house and we aren't millionaire's so there will be a compromise with any house we buy.

I think the other problem is that all the other houses we have seen have been quite depressing so perhaps we get overexcited when you find one that you can see yourself living in? There have been three offers made on this house already (I had forgotten how tough it was to buy a house, plus with lockdown I think the competition is now even higher as we are contending with people moving out of London). We have submitted our best and final offer today so now we wait and see.

Despite how much I love it, I know that more properties are being listed for sale each day so I have more hope that we will find something that is suitable for what we would like, but it doesn't bode well for my impatient nature!

After we viewed the house we bought some coffee's and a brownie and sat in the sunshine which was lovely. We then took a walk around the village to check out the shops, there is a really great pub here, loads of walks and cycle routes, a bus service and a convenience shop that sells 'Cook' food so it really is all that we need! I'm hoping there is a local tennis club and that would be me set, pardon the pun.

Ticehurst is a really lovely village filled with cute cottages like this.

When we got home we took a stroll around the garden to see what flowers have popped up.

Its still so cold though, I can't wait for it to be warm enough for strappy dresses and to be barefoot.

I sent Mr Poachie into the loft to bring down my Easter decorations. I really, really love Easter and I bought this wreath last year from TK Maxx. I had gone in there to find a suitcase and came out with a hairband and this wreath. Good times.

Every year I collect some blossom and other fauna from the garden and decorate with eggs to create my Easter tree. Mr Poachie has never heard of this tradition but I always had an Easter tree growing up and shall continue to do so! We are hoping to have some friends over for a lunch on Good Friday so I am keeping everything crossed for good weather and that the covid numbers stay low. I have written my clues for the egg hunt already and I have booked our food shop which is loaded with lamb, new potatoes, chocolate eggs and aperol!

I am so excited at the prospect of hosting an al fresco lunch!

We took a long walk on a new part of the forest that I hadn't been to before but Mr Poachie told me that they had fluffy cows and wild ponies so I was keen to explore!

I love walking on the forest and I walk the same route every day so it is great to get out and see a different part of it. Currently both of my wellies have massive tears in and I cannot seem to buy a replacement pair, they are sold out everywhere?! Its like the whole of England has panic bought wellies and my feet and socks are wet and muddy every time I go out walking!

How cute is this cow? I can't remember the name of the breed but the hair was curly they looked so cute.
If you walk in this part of the forest (The Old Lodge) then you have to keep your dogs on leads.

We walked for about an hour doing a nice easy loop. The views are so gorgeous.

I can't wait for the pubs to re-open so that we can finish off going for Sunday lunch afterwards. I do love cooking at home but every now and then its such a treat to have it cooked for you. Although I have stopped ordered pub roasts, I am always disappointed and they charge around £18 which I resent paying as I know I could cook my own for far less money!

Anyway, I just wanted to touch briefly on Mother's day. My mum passed away when I was 16 so I always think of others who have experienced such loss and wanted to share the below as I'm sure it is relevant for so many women. Social media can be a pain on days like this but I just wanted to remind anyone who has suffered a loss or who has a difficult relationship with their mums/mother figures that there are people like you and who are thinking of you. X
