Norfolk

It dawned on me the other day, I hadn't written a blog post since the Winter! I think I needed a break from social media, Instagram annoys me with its need to compete with TikTok and I get fed up of the popularity contest and following the 'rules' to try and get people to like your photo's. I just want to post and ghost 😂

Anyway, Mr Poachie and I recently had a staycation in Norfolk and it was so great to get away.

I had originally booked this trip as I wanted to visit the tulip fields but as our trip dates got closer, I decided against going as the fields aren't dog friendly and I feel I have dragged Mr Poachie around so many flower fields that I need to know when enough is enough!

We booked the gorgeous Little Norfolk Cottage which is dog friendly which is my main requirement in life now. The cottage is adorable, our bed was really comfy.

I loved all of the little finishing touches, there were so many nick-nacks everywhere which I am a huge fan of.
The cottage sleeps 4 adults and had two bunk beds for little ones but I thought it was a bit on the small side, there is only one sofa and the dining table was against the wall in the kitchen so whilst it was fine for the two of us, I wouldn't recommend it if there were two couples.

Not that we spent a lot of time in the cottage as we ate out for every meal.

When we arrived we had a spot of lunch in a pub in the village Burnham Market and then we had a wonder round. There were lots of sweet cafes and art shops. You don't need long here though.

We also explored Cley and Wells-by-the-sea. The beaches here are lovely, we didn't have the warmest weather but if it had been a nice hot day, I should think the beaches would be packed.

We had fun choosing which beach hut we would hire. They were all so unique. As I am someone who doesnt travel light, I think a beach hut is a great idea to store all of your beach umbrellas, picnic bits, blankets and chairs in.

We did the circular walk from Cley to Blakeney as I wanted to see the windmill and the village of Cley. It was a very bracing windy walk and the village of Cley is only small but it was good to get some fresh air and keep our steps up.

There were some adorable houses and shop fronts.

Baths were needed after a long day of walking in the strong winds! Once I am cold to my core a long soak in the tub is the only thing to warm me back up. Rosie of course got filthy swimming in the sea and running about in the sand. She loves the beach, it think the combo of the winds and the sand gives her the zoomies.

For anyone thinking of visiting Norfolk I would definitely recommend it; lots of places are dog friendly, the people are friendly, there are lots of good pubs to eat and drink at, the beaches are great. But there are some things to bear in mind, you will need a car, we were staying in Docking and most places we wanted to visit were at least 30 mins away. Whilst there is plenty to see and do, a lot of it is weather dependant.

If I go back I would like to hire a boat and sail the Norfolk Broads, I would also like to have a mooch around Sandringham and Holkham Hall.
